Sadie is so addicted to her bottle! She LOVES it. I try to give her a sippy and she just throws the dang thing. With Taylor she never took a bottle so I never had this problem. I want to get Sadie to take a sippy and do away with the bottle. I've tried the nuby soft spouts, the hard spouts and she hates all of them. So if any of you moms out there have any advice at all please let me know. I will take anything I can get!
Oh and just for the record I took both girls into the doctor today and here are their stats for me to remember in years to come.
Sadie Weight 20lbs, She is in the 40% for both height and weight
Taylor Weight 31lbs, She is in the 50% for weight and 60% for height.
I can't remember their heights and I'm too lazy right now to go and find them:).

i don't know what to tell ya about Saders i still let Pays take a bottle sooooo i'm guilty on that one:) she's still so little i wouldn't worry about it yet. And that's cool that Tay is 31 lbs bry was 32 lbs when she went in! They are so close!
Hey Cola! :) Can Sadie drink from a straw? . . . my in-between from nursing 2 sippy cups was an actual sippy cup with out the sippy lid. :)[LOL] What they are are cups w/ a flip straw on them. U flip the straw out & they learn how 2 hold the cups, & drink more independently. It worked for Hazen, & they are really handy even now that he's almost 2 he still likes using it. They can't open them w/out your help & they are spill proof 2. They sell them at Albertsons. There are some w/ characters on them & some that are just colored. Just a suggestion. Hope u find something that works for ya. By the way, we need 2 get 2gether & go do something! Give me a call soon. *MAUH* Kensie
I had the same problem with Chandler. If I tried taking his bottle away, he would drink hardly anything all day because he hated sippy cups. He had his bottle until 17 months. I think if you just keep offering her a sippy at meals and during the day she will eventually get the hang of it. Just be consistent as it might take some time. And I wouldn't worry if she ends up being on the bottle for a while longer :) Good luck!
We had Ian throw away his bottles and it worked! He never asked for them after that. The same thing with the sippy cup when it was time to get rid of that.
I just had to put all the bottles away so they were not in sight, and so I couldn't give in. It took a couple of days for Brytlee to get used to the thought that they were gone, and she hated the sippy cup also, but when she realized the ba ba was not coming back she finally took it.
Dont know if this works, but I got Isabella to drink from a sippy by not sticking the rubber insert in it (you know the stuff that keeps the water in). Anyhow, although it came out quicker, she figured out that sippys were for drinking from. I started out with water (less clean up), than when she learned how to sip out of it, I gradually introduced milk into the sippy, (added the rubber thing) And with that took away her bottle. She kind of looked weird when she saw there was milk in her sippy (being so accostumed to only water or juice in it. ) It worked out just fine. I think it was harder for me to take the bottle away from her....I didnt want to offend her, but she adjusted easely. Slowely but gradually I say:-)
K I did all sorts of mixtures of what your other friends suggested. Paige would just throw the sippee away from her to and would say "no". And I had both nuby and the harder ones, I think I had every sippee possible. But then one night I gave paige a harder sippee without the stopper in it (i just used water too, because she drank out of it, but also liked to see the water pour out) So I didn't keep the stopper off long. When I put it back on she would drink it some, but still didn't like it alot. So the next day I washed all her bottles and packed them away so they were completely out of sight, and so I wouldn't give into giving her one either. Before this though, at lunch Paige enjoyed drinking her juice or water out of a straw. So I went out and bought the nuby straw cup (since it's cheap and I was still testing things out) And since paige loves drinking out of a straw she loves this nuby straw cup. It took her a couple of days to really get it down and get used to it, but now she will also drink out of her regular nuby sippees too. So I give her juice in the straw one and milk in the other one. If you can make it through those first couple of days, sadie will adjust. Paige didn't drink a lot those first couple of days and I was a little worried, but she's now back on her regular drinking sceduale and happy! Good luck!!
My goodness Nicole, your family picture is just gorgeous! You guys are so cute! Your kids are growing so fast. Can you believe that Sadie is already a year?! Taya turns a year next week. I love all the photos of them. So fun!
I don't have any ideas as to what to do with a bottle for you child... but thanks for writing on my blog. Having my first student throw up gave me a taste of what you, tara, and kacey have to deal with...haha good times:)also thanks for your help with my blog
With Justin we never put him on the bottle because we didn't wnat him to get used to it. We went from nursing straight to a sippy cup with a soft tip to it. Here's a suggestion. You could try putting water in the bottle and putting milk in the sippy cup. All kids love milk it worked for a friend but all kids all different. You can try juice in the sippy cup as well. Good Luck!
