Grandpa's Funeral

My mom with all her kids (minus Kyle who's on a mission) at the grave site. I have to say this was one of the neatest funerals. My grandpa was in the Navy and they did the 7 gun salute for him. I loved my grandpa! He was an amazing man. Some of my favorite memories are him coming over after we got home from school and hanging out and giving us penny candy.Him calling me his little Indian when I rode in a group called the Ti Tonkas (I was 5 and pretty sure my parents were trying to kill me!) Driving the truck while he cussed in the back throwing hay to the cows and horses. Spending Christmas Eve at my grandparents house and him sleeping on the couch to make sure we didn't go spy on Santa. THE FAIR! I will forever love the Blackfoot Fair because of him. Seeing him show his clydesdales was one of my favorite things to do. He drove really slow! Haha. He would always say "if you can't count the fence posts your going to fast!" and if we were going too fast he would say zoomi zoomi. I am so very grateful for wonderful grandpa who taught me how to work and the example he was to me!

This is how he rode to the cemetery. It was so fitting for him. This is actually in front of the old house where he grew up, where my mom grew up, where I grew up, and where I just moved from. I'm sure he was smiling up above. I want to leave a poem here that he loved. It's called The Man in the Glass.

When you get what you want in your struggle for self,

And the world makes you king for a day,

Just go to the mirror and look at yourself

And see what that man has to say.

It isn't your father or mother or wife

Whose judgment which you must pass.

The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the one staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum

And think you're a wonderful guy.

But the man in the glass says you're only a bum

If you can't look him straight in the eye.

He's the fellow to please‑ never mind all the rest,

For he's with you clear to the end.

And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test

If the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years

And get pats on the back as you pass.

But your final reward will be heartache and tears

If you've cheated the man in the glass.

Love you grandpa!

Utah

We made it! This is right after we got to our home in Layton. I LOVE it! Everything just fell into place and it really feels like this is where we are supposed to be. I love that I am minutes away from anything and everything. I found a great preschool for Taylor. The girls in the ward are so friendly (well the 4 that I've met). More pictures to come! Miss my family and that's been a little bit of an adjustment. Thanks to everyone who helped us move we had a lot of crap! You are all the best!

For Jeremy

All I can say is wow a whole lot has gone on in such a short time. First of all my hubby has been gone for 2 weeks for work so I've been flying solo. When Jeremy gets back we are moving to Utah so guess who gets to do all the packing......ME! I pretty much hate it but I'm almost done and am so very proud of myself. On the downside one of my most favorite people passed away on Sat. My Grandpa Erickson was 86 going to be 87 on the 10th. I can't say how much he meant to me. I have so many memories of him. I will save those for another post. Oh and my brother and his wife had their 3rd little boy on my grandpa's bday. So this week has been busy to say the least.

Here are some pictures for my hubby! Your wild and crazy girls!

Sadie just lounging on the couch. I asked her where dad was and her response "At the AIIIIIRRRRPPPPPOOOORRRT."
Taylor posing for pictures. I asked her where dad was and her response "In a hotel for work. He's gone a long time for work but when he comes home we are moving to Utah."
And Raigen being her cute self!
I don't know what it is about this chair but it seems to be the place to fall asleep. Taylor fell asleep on it today.
Sadie fell asleep on it the other day.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow baby! We love you and are so excited to have you home!

~Sigh~

You know you go throughout your day cleaning, playing, feeding, cleaning, reading, TRYING to get ready, packing, cleaning, etc......you get my point, and you know as a mom it can be overwhelming at times. The kids will drive you crazy at one point of the day (or more), it's the way it goes. But as I sit here in my quiet house I miss the noise, the laughter, the high pitch screams, the singing, and I might even miss the crying and whining just a pinch. I can't wait to wake up in the morning and hear "Mom it's morning time make me some lunch (every meal is lunch)." How boring would my life be without my girls or husband (babe I miss you). It's the little things in life that matter the most ;)!
